When I came up with the idea for the Who Are You Now EP, I had fallen into one of the worst ruts of depression/anxiety I'd ever been faced with. I felt the most worrisome fear of not knowing where I was going to end up in life, what I was going to do, and... well... Who was I?

But then, I began to think about how a few years ago I wouldn't even have the words and ability to define my inner demons like this. Because I didn't really know what anxiety was, nor that it was something I suffered from until I broke out of the "mental health is for white people" idea that far too many black families instill into their children and sought out the help I needed to fight it.

Which culminated to the last thought I had, that really brought the project into fruition.

Would the men of past generations, like my father, be alive today if they had the same strength to get the help they needed.

I thought that Lovenotes was a really personal album, but this EP goes much MUCH deeper.
